Signed Books! (Until April 29)

Periodically, people ask me about signed books and I slink off into the distance, ashamed I just don’t have it together.

However, I can finally (briefly) offered signed books for people I don’t see in person! I don't have an indie bookstore close to me I can partner with to regularly send out signed books BUT I will be at my friend's wonderful indie bookstore on April 29 to sign books!! So if you'd like a signed hardcover of The Bone Shard War, or a paperback of The Bone Shard Emperor or The Bone Shard Daughter, you can order one from her store and it will be shipped to you!

A Seat At The Table Books is not only run by my friend, it is a wonderful, inclusive store that boosts books by people from marginalized backgrounds and serves as a community hub. They host events ranging from weddings (!!) to book readings to children’s movie nights. It’s a wonderful spot and I’m glad I could partner with them! I would highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in the Sacramento area.

THE BONE SHARD WAR Release Date aaaaand a New Series!

I’m sorry; I’m terrible at keeping this up. I had another daughter in May, and I find pregnancy to be an enormous brain-drain. We have, until recently, had two kids under two years old. During a pandemic. YIKES.

BUT! The Bone Shard War will be coming out in six months, on April 18, 2023. It’s up for preorder at all your major outlets and at most indie bookstores as well! I’m hoping I’ll be able to share the cover soon.

I am very proud of this series and the conclusion to it. When people ask me what my strengths are as a writer, I can definitively say that I am good at endings. I am so excited to share it with you all! ALSO—the kids will be older, so I’m planning on traveling this spring and summer. So keep an eye on “Events” if you want to say “hi”, grab some book swag, and get your books signed! I’m still figuring out what my schedule should be and where I’ll be going.

In other news, I’ve signed with Orbit for a new series!

The Bookseller article, titled “Orbit bags epic fantasy series by Stewart in ‘significant’ six-figure deal”

I am really looking forward to sharing this new world, shattered into realms by an ancient disaster, a place where magic suffuses the air in layers beneath everyone’s feet. Where sinkholes open up at a moment’s notice and just as quickly collapse. And of course, new characters…

Two sisters torn apart by heartbreaking circumstances, a chameleon of a politician who puts familial duty above her own needs, an intrepid scholar-explorer who gets the gang together for one last mission, and a huge grump of a winged man with an inexplicable fondness for cats.

I hope all of you who have been enjoying The Drowning Empire trilogy will join me for this new adventure! So grateful to my readers and the wonderful folks at Orbit!!

Delays

Hi friends and readers! I’m afraid I have some bad news. This is all on me, but the third and last book in The Drowning Empire trilogy, THE BONE SHARD WAR, is going to be pushed back to Spring 2023. It's been A Year, and besides me running into pandemic problems (finding reliable—and safe!—childcare has been interesting), this third book is chonky and I completely scrapped the first 165K draft. BUT the good news is I started over, scrapped the 2nd iteration 1/3 of the way in--wait, no, the good news is that I started over a third time and I'm 30-50K from the end and it's finally feeling right.

I've had the ending in mind for a long time, but I really want to make sure that everything leading up to it is satisfying! If you haven't guessed yet, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and very hard on my own work 😅 Please know this is going to be the ending the series deserves, and I'm terribly sorry it is taking a few months longer than expected!

I so appreciate everyone who has read the books so far, and I have an enormous complex about disappointing people, so rest assured it is coming!
